Here is a picture I took during a recent winter climbing trip to the Cairngorms in Scotland. The ridge you see was the first route I climbed and I love how you can see two figures in the distance on the col making their way up towards the rocks on the right. As you can see, it was a rare perfect day for Scottish winter mountaineering.
Although the weather here in Edinburgh is not particularly spring-like, spring time is just around the corner. This week’s Photo Friday theme is Spring Time and I managed to find these lovely flowers to photograph.

Here is a picture I took of my current favourite Malt Whisky from Deanston Distillery. My Dad’s family is from Doune and Deanston so this wee tipple is extra special for me and I’m lucky that my local Portobello wine shop stocks it. I used a couple of flashes – one bouncing off the ceiling and another in a soft box to the side of the bottle to give it a bit of highlight. An LED panel lit the back wall from under the table. I don’t usually do that many still life pictures – particularly of Malt Whisky – but could get used to it as I loved it. Very laid back and as an added bonus, I get to drink the dram!

Here is a picture I took in Sharm el Sheikh at sunrise just after New Year. A huge freight ship just slipped under the rising sun. Awesome!
I took this picture of a collection of shells on a sea wall on Portobello Beach. Anna and I were doing a family shoot and the kids had collected a pile of shells from the surf. I love the colours of the lights in the background against the rough texture of the shells.
