So – the big day is fast approaching. Here is a checklist of key information that I need in order to make the photography worry free for you on the day. After all, you should be able to enjoy the big day safe in the knowledge that the photography will be taken care of.
What information do I need?
Before your wedding day arrives, I will need to know the following:
Location of the morning preparations for the girls.
Location of the ceremony.
Location of the reception.
The type and colour of the car that is bringing the bride.
Names of: the best man, ushers and maid of honour, .parents of the bride and groom, Minister / Priest / Celebrant, your venue contact(s). Any other important names – videographer, wedding planner etc.
How many guests will there be?
Who is doing the speeches? Are they before, during or after dinner?
What formals you would like? I will need a list sent to me prior to the wedding and at least one usher (ideally two) designated to assist in getting the groups ready. This will make the formals much more efficient and quick. Please bear in mind, the more formals you have, the longer the photography will take!
Is there a place we can go for some private portraits? This is a great opportunity to take a breather and spend 10-15 minutes together. This can be in the grounds where the reception is held or somewhere on the way there. I’ll have a wet weather plan just in case!
Timings:
Could you provide approximate times for:
When you would like me to arrive in the morning to take pictures of the bridal party getting ready (if you’ve gone for the morning add-on).
The boys arrival.
Start of the ceremony (bride arrives).
The scheduled start of the reception (meeting the guests / receiving line)
Wedding breakfast start and finish.
Start of speeches.
The cutting of the cake.
The first dance.
Other really useful information would be:
Your wish list for capturing specific moments?
Are there any special events / anything out of the ordinary that you would like covered?
When do you return from honeymoon?
Timeline:
You’ve booked! Let me know if you would like an engagement shoot. Pictures from this are great gifts for the parents at the wedding. A 50% deposit is payable to reserve the date in my diary.
Meeting. We’ll meet to chat over the details.
7 Days after the engagement session. Your pictures will be in the proofing gallery. You can either download print ready ones or I can produce a mini album for you.
30 days before. I’ll contact the venues to introduce myself and organise a site visit.
14 days before. I’ll visit the venues to scout the best angles and check out lighting and other techy geeky details.
2-3 days before. I’ll get in touch with you to make sure the details are still correct.
The big day! Enjoy it. The day will fly by!
Around 21days after the wedding. Your pictures will also be uploaded to the online proofing gallery. I wil give you a password that you can hand out to friends and relatives who can buy prints and print-ready downloads directly from the site. We will then schedule a meeting where we put together your album from your favourite pictures (if you’ve chosen the album design package). A DVD of high resolution print-ready images will be posted to you. Please make at least one back up of this and store in a safe place! If you want to do the album yourself, I will give you the details of a number of excellent album producers that you can choose from. The balance of my fee is payable once you’re happy with everything.
6-8 weeks after the design session. Your wedding album(s) will arrive.
Sometime in the future. Contact Arran for a maternity and baby photography package ;-)
